Runs Lose Season opener in tough conditions

Although the sun was shining, it sure didn’t feel like it Thursday night at the Runs season opener vs the Cobras. The strong west wind made it feel like about 2 degrees. The Runs played a strong offensive game scoring 17 runs, but in the end it wasn’t enough to beat the Cobras who racked up 21 points (7 of which were in the bottom of the 6th). Returning Pitcher John Siebring preformed exceptionally under the adverse conditions, helping keep his team in the game. In an interview after the game, playing manager Warren Lippitt had this to say: “The sun and the wind made it tough out there. We had some errors that probably wouldn’t have happened under nicer conditions. Overall though, I’m really happy with the way the team preformed. We’re young and energetic and in a more competitive division this year. If we can keep our offense up and tighten the the D, I think we’re going to have a great year.”
The Runs finished runner-up in Division 4 last year in a heart-braking 1 point game. They’ve been moved up to division 2 this year and have high hopes. To follow the Runs, become a fan on our webpage and view the calendar for game info.
